    One of the core aspects to being a pirate is not only the lust for glory, but more importantly the lust for gold. And Sea of Thieves does not take that longing lightly. Gold is one of the main currencies in the game and can be obtained in more ways than you can imagine. What is gold used for you may ask, it is used for purchasing some new cosmetic items for your trusted pirate to fit them with all the things that make it truly yours and unique. So with that said lets dive in and discuss how to get your hands on this gold. 

Voyages 

    This has got to be the most obvious way that you can earn gold on the sea of thieves.After all it is the core gameplay loop of the entire game. However I do not recommend this route because voyages are long, tedious, and laves you vaunrable to anyone driving by while you are on the island. They also do not give much gold and have a very fixed rate. For example if a voyage takes an hour you are only making that set amount of gold an hour. Although the developers have understood how lacking the voyages used to be they had updated the trading companies and brought in new voyage types that make them slightly more enjoyable but they are still nothing special and I recommend doing other things in order to make gold. 

Emissaries

    This was one of my favorite additions to the game because not only did it add a new faction, it changed the gameplay loop and added an alternative way of playing and rewarded it. Emissaries is a risk and reward system. You automatically put a target on your back when you are sailing the seas and have the chances to make all your efforts futile. However if you do happen to make it out alive it is most definelty worth it as you can make 2.5 times as much gold. Emissaries are one of the core aspects to getting gold. And no matter which of the options you choose on this list it is always a good idea to put up an emissary flag while you are doing it. So in order to maximize on gold pair an emissary flag with any of these options.

World Events 

    World events are probably the most fun activities in the game. Each one is unique, has its own lore behind it, is difficult, and can bring some amazing stories for you and your crew. Also they have the potential to give large amounts of loot. However the large amount of loot also attracts other pirates on the server and can lead to futile efforts if you are not able to fend off the attacking pirates. However paired with an emissary flag it can be a phenomenal combination that can make you plently of gold. 

    Now it comes into question what is the best world event for gold? Well the answer becomes complicated because I am not only taking into account the amount of gold that you earned but also I am taking into account how likely it is your gold will be snatched away from you. 

    In my opinion either flameheart or Skeleton forts are the best course of action. This is because many players avoid the flameheart event due to it being very long and also very difficult with many new players sinking due to it. However if you are experienced at the game and manage to obtain the storage crates given when ships sink, then you will not be messed with and it provides a lot of gold.

    Skeleton forts are also a very good source of gold because they are very quick, they give large amounts of gold, they are also fun and entertaining, it is very rare that the skeleton fort will be contested by other players. However there is still the chance that they do. But the time it takes to complete it and the rewards it gives makes up for that risk that you have to take. Combined with an emissary flag and you will make substantial gold very quickly. 

Reapers Bones 

    I know I have mentioned emissary play already but reapers bones deserves its own section. reapers bones is by far the best way to make money. This is for a variety of reasons. Firstly, its fun. Sea of Thieves is a pirate game and what better way to make money than being a pirate. Also another reason why reapers bones is so amazing is because they accept all loot types. Most trading companies only accept treasure from their respective themes. However because reapers bones does not have a voyage quest in order to get loot, they accept all loot types. And because reapers also have an emissary system, you get 2.5 times the gold for every loot type which gives the most gold out of any system out there. And also because the limit of the loot you can get per hour is unlimited it is most definelty the best way to earn gold. 

Conclusion

    In conclusion there are many different ways to earn gold in this game, some are better than others. But in terms of which is the best way, without wasting much of your time reapers bones emissary is definelty the best way to earn gold. Especially if you are good at the game you can make a lot of gold in very short amount of time.
