This is the Best Map in Rainbow Six Siege
What is the Best Map in R6?
Rainbow six siege has been out for the better part of six years. In that six years it has led the way in terms of being a live service game. This means that it would update the game with brand new content every few months, which at the time was revolutionary. Games would provide the base content, and if they wanted to expand, they would bring DLC updates but lock them behind a hefty pay wall. Rainbow six siege would use DLC as a way to retain players as they would offer two new operators and a map every season for free.
So because the game has had six years of support, and the fact that every season brought in a new map you would imagine that the game has a substantial amount of maps in the game and you would be correct. The game has maps that take their location inspiration from all across the globe, whether that be the outback of Australia, or a training facility in Britain. Rainbow Six Siege has it all. Although this comes at a cost. Some maps, most maps are worse than others. So today we will be appreciating the few occurrences of good map design as we debate the best map in the game.
Club House
Club House was one of the original maps that was introduced with the games release. However, at the games release the map was poorly designed and as a result it underwent a rework. The rework did fix the map and it is now one of the most enjoyable maps that many players look forward to playing on. It is balanced for both defenders and attackers, it has created its own meta for many of the sites on the map. And the sites themselves are very enjoyable to play on.
For example one of the sites in the map is CCTV. It has created its own meta, this meta is to defend the wall on top of balcony to prevent attackers from having lines of sight directly into the site. So each round played on this site is a competition to see if the defenders can protect the wall, or if the attackers can manage to breach. Many strategies have been made to counter defenders and many defenders have adapted to outwit the incoming attackers. Each round is a fun time to play and it is a great map to play on.
Coastline
Coastline is a map that takes place in Spain, and it was introduced during the Velvet Shell season of Rainbow Six Siege which occurred during year one. Coastline is one of the fan favorite maps. With the introduction of map banning recently, it rarely finds itself in the banning meta. This is for good reason too. It is a well designed map which is balanced for both defenders and attackers. As well, the sites are very fun to play on, there are no intricate corners that a defender waits on at every second like skyscraper, nor is there infinite amount of lines of sight for the attackers which was the case for favela. It is balanced and enjoyable. Which makes it one of our contenders for being the best map in Rainbow Six Siege.
Bank
Bank was also one of the maps originally offered to players during the game's initial release. Similar to the clubhouse map mentioned earlier. Bank is not an amazingly well designed map however it makes the top three simply because of how fun of a map it is. The basement site on bank is fun to both attack and defend. Similar to club house it has developed its own meta for certain sites.
For example probably the most poplar site to play on bank is basement for defenders. This is because most teams will use a mira in order to control entry from jewelry and servers which is a very common entry point for attackers. This leads to interesting game play as attackers have to adapt in order to win the round.
Verdict
In conclusion the best map in Rainbow Six Siege has got to be Club House, from Germany. This is for a variety of reasons. First off, the theme of the map is well done and well designed. There is great attention to detail, with locations such as a decked out garage, a money laundering location, a strip club, and a bar. It is a very well designed map featuring appropriate music and lighting as well.
The map also excels at gameplay. It features balanced sites for both attackers and defenders. With CCTV, Bedroom, and Basement, you are never lacking in a viable site to play which is not the case with other ranked maps as you almost always have to compromise and choose one lackluster site, which is the case for bank, Top floor and basement are both phenomenal sites however the third choice you will be compromising.
The sites are also very enjoyable. As mentioned earlier sites have adapted to have its own meta. A great example of this is the CCTV site, as each round is a competition to see who can best the other in the hopes of either holding the wall or destroying it.
