Which killer you should get first - Dead by Daylight
One of the most fascinating parts of dead by daylights is how dynamic it is able to be. It is a game that is not quite linear and every game manages to be different. One of the ways the game accomplishes this is through the use of two types of core gameplay. You are able to choose between being the killer or being one of the four survivors that are tasked with escaping with their lives.
However when you get into the game you are given a few base killers and the rest remain locked behind a potential paywall. But there is a way to get killers for free. If they are unlicensed, which means they do not come from a horror franchise other than dead by daylight, than you can purchase them using the purple iridescent shards. It costs 9,000 of these shards in order to purchase a killer. However it raises a very important question. Which one should you get first?
Spirit
In my opinion the killer you should get first is spirit. Although she is most definitely a difficult killer to grasp and get used to. Once you can master this killer you can possibly be unpredictable and a force to be reckoned with. Spirit is a movement and slightly a stealth killer but that statement can be controversial. Spirit is probably the most controversial killer out there right now and is despised to be played against.
What does spirit do?
After hyping spirit up so much it begs the question, what exactly does spirit do? Her ability is known as a phase walk. She temporarily stands still while activating her ability and when she is in her phase walk she is invisible to survivors and she cannot see survivors either. She can only see scratch marks, blood, and can hear whispers, moaning of pain, and vaulting noises etc. This phase walk lasts for a predetermined amount of time and spirit must wait for her ability to recharge in order to use it again.
Why is she so good?
Spirit is the best killer and even overwhelms the best of survivors. This is because of her add ons. Extremely experienced survivors are able to count how long a spirit is able to stay in her phase walk and can plan accordingly. However spirit add ons can alter the charge time, and the phase walk time which completely removes any counter play for survivors. There is no way to predict where she will be and adjust accordingly. In regular matches, no survivor is aware of how much time they have and it becomes based off the skill of the killer to get the kill, if the killer is good, the survivor is out of luck and there is nothing they can do.
However there is something to understand. Spirit requires a great deal of skill and if not used correctly you are just another average killer. So if you are on this article you are looking for a new killer that can be easy to use and not too difficult to grasp, and I have the perfect one in mind.
The Plague
The plague is probably the best killer for any new player. The way it works is she vomits on surviors and the things they interact with. When they touch anything infected or get vomit on them, they become infected. After their timer runs out they are semi permanently injured. This means instead of the usual two hits it would normally take, it would only take one hit to put the survivor into the dying state.
However the plague gets even better. There is a way for survivors to cleanse themselves. Located around the map are fountains that can cure them of their sickness and also heal them from a health state. However this comes at a price. When a survivor cleanses using these fountains the fountain becomes cursed and the Plague is able to drink from it and now her vomit that used to only infect can be used to take a health state. That is right, using these cursed fountains you are able to injure and down survivors without hitting them.
Conclusion
In conclusion grinding your way to get a new killer is a very rewarding process when you finally cross the finish line. Each killer revives the game just when you thought the gameplay was getting stale. However out of the many killers the two best ones to get first are either spirit or plague. Spirit if you are experienced and plague if you are not.
