    One of the greatest parts of Sea of Thieves is the variety of content that has been added throughout the years. Yet one of the core pieces of content that has been in the game since launch and also has a substantial role in the lore of the series, is the trading companies that are offered at each outposts. These trading companies are the core foundation of the game and all of the game-play loops revolve around these factions. So today we will be talking about the different factions in the game and which one is the best. When we say best we mean most enjoyable and most fascinating backstory 

What is a Trading Company? 

    Before we get started we should probably cover what exactly a trading company is in the game. A trading company is a faction in Sea of Thieves, they are distinguished by the type of loot or treasure that they accept. And their voyages or missions are themed after their respective company. For example one of the companies in the game is the Gold Hoarders. The gold hoarders are obsessed with gold, and so their voyages or missions revolve around gold hunting and treasure hunts. Their voyages have x marks the spot maps which coincide with the theme of the company. 

What is the worst trading company?

    In my opinion the worst trading company in the game has to be the hunters call. This is because they have very little to no content to them. Fishing was added to the game during the anniversary update however there has been little to no content updates that have reinforced this faction. There is no game play loops, no interesting mechanics added or any voyage types. It is simply, fish, sell, and repeat. It is not entertaining, provides little to no rewards and is by far the worst trading company in the game. However this is also due to the fact that it is a shadow compared to the other trading companies which are filled with great amount of content and entertaining voyages and game play loops. 

The Best Trading Company in Sea of Thieves 

    The best trading company in Sea of Thieves has most definelty got to be the reapers bones. This is because of how little time investment it takes, the nature of its game play, and how the rewards are not limited or connected to time played. Allow me to explain. For other trading companies such as the merchant alliance or gold hoarders, the rewards that you earn are connected to the amount of time you spend on a voyage. If each voyage takes an hour, and each voyage nets 10 grand in gold, than you can determine that voyages will net ten grand an hour. However with reapers bones your earnings are connected to how many ships you sink and what loot they have on board. This means the potential in terms of gold earned per hour is unlimited. However it also comes with a risk of running into no ships in an entire hour and earning no loot what so ever. Although the gameplay makes up for it because you are not running around senselessly with an x marks the spot map only to be sunk by a galleon. Instead you are being a true pirate and are taking the rewards from those who worked for it. 

Conclusion 

    In conclusion the trading companies offer unique experiences to the Sea of Thieves and are essential to the core gameplay loop. However the reapers bones take the cake, because the company themselves represent what sea of thieves is at its core, a pirate game. And because of how entertaining the gameplay loop is and how the rewards have no ceiling the reapers bones is by far the best trading company
